December’s theme: Celebration

Well here we are in full on festive mode now that December has arrived!

We had a wonderful holiday in Gran Canaria in a Finca surrounded by orange groves, mangoes, bananas, avocados and papayas! I was in my element, all the fruit was organic so we just helped ourselves! So my vit D and vit C levels were topped up big time! This is my birthday month. I will be 65 years young and still feeling great despite a challenging year!

Our theme this month is Celebration so let’s celebrate all the things we have to be grateful for, our health, our family and our Wellness Hub friends, who are quite simply the best!

Christmas in our family is focused on food, chilling out and staying away from the madness of the shops, it’s all a bit overwhelming with all the plastic and packaging, crowds and unnecessary buying.

Kathryn and I are making lots of Christmas crafts this year which is so much fun, from salt baked clay, to felt and wool, orange slices, velvet ribbon garlands and paper snowflakes, it’s the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit, listening to our favourite Christmas songs with a few snacks and tipples. I will be sharing some of our best ideas!

I have my Festive Ferments on the go, a bit late this year since I was in Gran Canaria on holiday.  Don’t worry if you aren’t organised yet, there are plenty of ferments which only take 7 to 10 days so there is plenty of time.

Sproutchi and Christmas Carrot Kraut are 2 of my favourites.

Wishing you and yours a peaceful and happy Christmas.

In good health,

Janice xx

Birthday fundraiser 💚

My birthday fundraiser this year is for SAMH, Scotlands mental health charity, who have opened a drop in centre, called The Nook, for anyone to access mental health support without referrals, appointments or waiting times.

The first one is in Glasgow, with more planned for Inverness, Edinburgh, Inverclyde and Lanarkshire. Jenna has put together a wonderful e book Almanac, of some of my favourite Wellness Hub recipes through the year, with foraged and fermented recipes, and beautiful poems written by Jenna. All the proceeds from the sale of the book are going to SAMH, so I’d love it if you would consider buying a copy, for £10.
