February’s Theme: Holistic Health
January is always the hardest month to get through, we should still be hibernating, staying warm and being kind to ourselves. A gentle start to a whole new year. I have been doing exactly that and also clearing out cupboards and emptying drawers of all the old clutter, broken items and things I simply don’t like anymore. It’s so freeing to move forwards, feeling lighter allowing room for new experiences, and just creating some space in our lives.
I’ve been thinking a lot about my priorities and where I want to focus my energies as we move into the Fire Horse energy of February. Two areas of my life need more attention-exercise and spirituality- so I’ve been spending more time in my meditation hut, listening to all sorts of interesting sessions on Insight Timer, a fabulous resource for all things spiritual and meditative.
Exercise has become a much more regular feature since I invested in a Hume Health Band, which tracks steps, stress levels, heart rate, sleep quality and metabolic capacity. This ties in nicely with looking after Lev our eldest daughter's energetic dog for 2 months, so regular morning walks have increased my step count to much higher levels.
Lifting weights and increasing my bone density are still very much part of my focus this year and I am fortunate enough to have Nikki, physiotherapist and lovely hubber, helping me to regularly update my programme to keep challenging my bones and building strength safely.
So this month, our focus is Holistic Health, looking at all the ways we can improve our health and minimise symptoms, without medication, so do check out our Holistic Health section over on the website.
I am most excited to have the wonderful Jean Dow, medical herbalist as our special guest on the FB group this month. I have been working with Jean for 6 months and I can’t emphasise enough what a support and an inspiration she has been. Working with herbs has reduced my stress levels to the lowest they have ever been, and I now feel totally empowered about taking control of my own health. Jean will be chatting about her Health MOT which can literally save lives, here are her details.
Life is good, the opportunities abound, and I am looking forward to what February brings my way.
Here's to the brighter days and making the most of them.
In good health,
Janice xx
